Relaxed In-Home Newborn Session in Queen West, Toronto I have known baby W's parents for many years, so I was thrilled to be asked to take their precious baby boys newborn images.  This little man captured my heart with his gentle soul and beautiful big brown eyes. We had such a fun and relaxed in-home session and the weather was so warm, we got to go outside too! Old Toronto homes can be tricky for light, but never fear, I will always find a space to take your baby's images.  If you think your house may be too small or cluttered or dark, I can assure you that I always find a space to capture beautiful images of your little one.  If you need some tips on how to prepare for your in-home newborn session you can check out this article I wrote.  Claire Binks is a natural light photographer specializing in Maternity, Babies, Newborns, Children and Families in the West Toronto area, serving areas such as the Junction, Juction Triangle, Bloor West Village, Roncesvalles, Forest Hill, Lawrence Park, Riverdale and more! How to Prepare for Your In-Home Newborn Photography Session I absolutely adore photographing newborns in their homes. I know how hard it can be to leave the house in the early days.  I hope that by coming to your home, I can take some of the stress away!  Because I take more natural posed images, I find using a clients home to be the best space to attain those intimate special moments.  Here are some of the ways, I like to tell my clients to prepare for our photo session.  This ensures the session can run smoothly an everyone is feeling like their best self!1. Feed the baby! Before I arrive, make sure baby is fed. A fed baby is a content baby. It doesn't matter to me if baby is asleep or awake.  We will go with the flow. If your little ones needs a top up while we are taking our images, we will pause and let baby eat.  These can also make for some special photo opportunities. 2. Warm your house! If you'd like images of baby in just a diaper or diaper shirt then please crank your heat or turn down your ac.  A warm baby is a happy baby! We may feel hot but baby will be nice and toasty.  3. Choose simple, timeless clothes for the babyIf you have an outfit you'd like baby to wear, please make sure it fits them!  When clothes are too big, the photos look awkward and baby looks like they are being swallowed up.  Try to have a ...

Well it's been almost 2 years since our last little bundle was born and I'm finally getting the time to give a little update.  This little girl entered the world 9.5 weeks early weighing 3 pounds 14 ounces.  She gave us quite the scare.  I went in to get checked because I felt her moving less and less.  After a number of tests and lots of agonizing waiting, we learned that she was suffering from a fetal maternal hemmorhage.  Here is the definition from wikipedia: Fetal-maternal haemorrhage is the loss of fetal blood cells into the maternal circulation. It takes place in normal pregnancies as well as when there are obstetric or trauma related complications to pregnancy.  In our case, there was no trauma and I was being regularly monitored because my first son was born early due to preeclampsia.  I was lucky enough to be at Mt. Sinai hospital where they have an amazing fetal surgery team.  My sweet baby girl underwent a utero blood transfusion (she was still in my belly this means).  The next day tests revealed she was still losing blood so they delivered her within 30 minutes of my last ultrasound.  It was terrifying to say the least and so hard to not see or hold my baby right away.  Our little fighter came out screaming.  It was such a beautiful sound to hear.  Little ...
